Alloy: a metalsmithing community

This beautiful space located in the West Bottoms of Kansas City is used for workshops, lessons, classes, and bench memberships. With 11 professional jeweler’s benches, everything you might need to solder, a great atmosphere, and a supportive community, it makes for a wonderful place to learn and work.

Workshops, Classes & Group Lessons

Here at the MeritMade Workshop we offer a variety of workshops and classes. Classes range from creating specific projects to learning a new skill and everything in between. We welcome all levels of creativity and experience. Class options change regularly. Be sure to check back every few months or sign up for our newsletter to be notified of new classes and to get early access to tickets.

DIY Wedding Band Workshop

Don't let your wedding bands be just another thing on the wedding checklist. Making your own bands will provide an experience that shopping online or at a jewelry store never will. We will be with you every step of the way, guiding the process and ensuring that you leave with heirloom quality rings that you both will cherish for a lifetime.

Membership

Whether metalsmithing is your hobby or your source of income, your creative energy is welcome. We have a few ways to join our community. The social membership gets you an invite to all of our events and members only classes. If you want to take all or of workshops or some private lessons the maker membership would be the best fit. Lastly, the bench membership is perfect for you if you need a comfortable and safe place to work.

Private 1 on 1 Lessons

Need more flexible scheduling, want to learn something we don’t currently have a class for, or perhaps you simply need a bit more 1 on 1 attention? Kelly, Louise, and Julianne offer private lessons that might be perfect for you. We love sharing our knowledge and get super excited about helping people meet and exceed their metalsmithing goals.

Located in the historic West Bottoms, the MeritMade Workshop is an easy commute to/from anywhere in the Metro. As one of the tenants in the Livestock Exchange building, we are surrounded by a wonderful community of artists and small business.
